Omron E4 Professional TENS Pulse Massager - How Does It Work:

TENS principle (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation). TENS is the electrical stimulation through the skin via surface electrodes to stimulate nerve fibres, primarily for pain relief.
